Through collaboration and standardisation, the project aims to empower organisations to navigate complex regulatory landscapes, embrace cutting-edge technologies, and drive sustainable growth in the data market and AI sector. Ultimately, the project seeks to establish a framework that promotes responsible AI development, enhances data governance practices, and maximises the societal benefits of AI innovation for a diverse set of actors.

CERTAIN is not a theoretical framework. It evaluates its own output in seven different pilots, over six very distinct business fields (biometrics, health, energy, human resources, finance, and IT), and disseminates the lessons learned in these pilots.

The University of Tartu (UT) Centre for Applied Social Sciences (CASS) fulfills the role of a comprehensive SSH (Social sciences and humanities) partner, bringing expertise in social sciences, law, and ethics. In CERTAIN, its goal is to provide quality SSH research and perspectives throughout the entire project, going beyond the realm of simple legal compliance.
